How come I cant throw flares in Dying Light videogame?

Hey all, so I have a big problem. I cant use flares! I have 25 of them and I press G, but nothing happens. All other throwables and other stuff like a UV flashlight works perfectly normal when I press G, but when I want to use flares, nothing. I see them equipped in the lower left corner, but thats it. Its like I dont have any. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Have you tried changing the control key for flares to a different key?
