How cool is cool enough?

I've got my computer's fans set to quiet mode. I could easily turn them up if I'm running too warm, but I find the noise they make to be grating*.

Basically, I want to know what a good temp is for every day use. If I'm below that, I'll leave the fans alone. If not, I'll try playing with the settings a bit.

Thanks.

*They're not really loud per se. The fish tank is loud. The fans make this high pitched whirring that I find particularly annoying.

Maybe, except where I live, 35c is only a few degrees above ambient during most of the summer.

Instead of that, how 'bout we go with "Roughly 10c over ambient" at idle, with a delta-T of no more than 30c, not to exceed a total of about 85c maximum if you want to play it safe.

If all else fails you could try methods to quieting down the fans for when you turn them up. you can place rubber gaskets between the fan and the case - to help isolate vibration. Also you can use sound dampening material inside the case - just be careful of restricting airflow.

Intel. 4670k. Ambient: Thermostat says 77 so I think that's 25 C?

HWMonitor says has got readings from 32 to 36 except the AUXTIN which is 40.

I don't think rubber gaskets would help. It's the whirring of the fan blades that's making the annoying sound.
