I am building a new PC for Gaming.
i was just checking these 2 CPU’s on Game Debate and found both of them similar. Game Debate rank is 8 out of 10 for both (i3 4160 & i5 2400).

I am little confuse here bcoz i know i3 4160 have 2 cores and i5 2400 have 4 cores. then how these 2 CP’s can be similar.
Please Help Me..

If both of these are similar then i would love to buy i3 4160 bcoz it is much cheaper than i5 2400.

Solution
A I3-4160 will be 2 cores, but 4 threads. It has a passmark rating of 5024 and a single thread rating of 2080.
The i5-2400 has 4 cores with a passmark rating of 5836 but a slower single core rating of 1736.
What does this mean for gaming?
Few games can use more than 2-3 threads so each is ok on that score.
Most games will depend on the performance of a single fast master thread. This is true of sims, mmo, and strategy games.
On that score, the i3-4160 will be better.

Fast action shooters will depend on graphics capability more.

There are a few games that benefit from many threads, in particular multiplayer games with lots of participants.
On that score, the higher total rating of the i5-2400 will be better.

I am a believer on...
The i3 has hyperthreading to simulate having 4 cores, which it does quite well. The i5-2400 is a very dated chip (2011), and even the i3-4160 is a generation behind the newest. The first number is the "generation" (4xxx, 2xxx). Current models are either Haswell (4xxx series) or the newer Skylake (6xxx series).

I hope this helps.

I am a believer on going with new tech on a new build.
If your budget permits, I think the skylake i3-6100 would be a better option.
It has a rating of 5524, and a single thread rating of 2102.
Any LGA1151 motherboard will do.
