How could I turn this monitor into a TV?

I have a ASUS ML228H HD LED monitor and I want to turn it into a TV.

But I don't know what to do because there is only a HDMI and VGA thingy in the back of the monitor.


So could someone please list what I need and maybe for some cheap stuff?

You need to add a TV Tuner card to your current computer system, if possible. Please list your current system specifications (in particular the motherboard and available expansion slots) and what television source you currently have (cable w/set top box, cable, w/o set top box, satellite, free, over-the-air antenna).

My specs are :

8GB DDR3 RAM
Radeon HD 7850
AMD FX-6300
BIOSTAR TA970XE Mobo

And we have cable boxes for everyone of our TV's.

You can't just convert a monitor into a tv.

You have to route your cable signal to your tv, via a tv tuner, then you can transmit the signal to your tv. I don't know of any other way.

Typically tv tuners are $50.

Since you have cable boxes for each of your TVs, you're going to need a card that will make your computer act just like a set top box. These are called cablecard ready devices. There are a few on the market today and each will require at least one cablecard from your cable company. The devices are:

1) Ceton InfiniTV4 PCI-E - Four Tuners.
2) Ceton InfiniTV4 USB - Four Tuners.
3) SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime - Three Tuners.
4) Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650 - Two Tuners.

As previously mentioned, each card will require a cablecard on lease from your cable company. While costs vary from location to location, in the Twin Cities, MN area an HD DVR set top box lease would cost me $17/month. A cablecard lease is only $2/month.
