How delicate are CPU pins?

I recently got an FX 6300 from canada computers, I took it out of the box and briefly touched the pins I didn't like press on them or hold it from the side with the pins or anything like that, I was talking to two of my friends about it one said it was fine but the other was convinced I'd broken the CPU. I'd even washed my hands before touching it and he was still convinced it was broken. Before putting it in the box again I made sure all the pins were even aligned and haven't touched it since. Was he just overreacting or are CPU pins really that extremely fragile?

Hi,

I have been building / repairing computer for more than 20 years and has statics chocks more than once, on running equipment and I never damaged anything. I would not be concerned about static.

If you have slightly bent pins, get a thumbtack or something similar, try to straiten it. Be extremely careful because if it breaks, it's dead.
I have done this more than once and everytime the cpu was ok
They are ELECTRICALLY fragile. You could have had thousands of volts of static electric built up in your body. You wouldn't have felt the shock but the CPU might have. No way to know if you damaged it or not. All you can do is put it in an see what happens.

If they arent physically bent there is most likely nothing wrong with what you just did.
I recommend against touching them again, but you should be fine.

The pins are extremely maluable, so they are easy to bend (and break). But if you didnt bend them you can use it as is. If they are bent, you can look up how to bend them back.

The pins are fine. I wouldn't worry. I've held plenty of cpu's, touching the pins. If you visually verified that the pins are straight it's ok. They aren't that fragile physically that just touching them will break them, it takes a small bit of effort on a single pin though.

I was standing on a wooden floor when it happened which is an isolant (Sorry if that's spelt wrong we do science in french in canada so I'm not sure of the english spelling) so shouldn't that mean there probably wasn't very much or just none?
