How different do in-built speakers sound compared to external speakers designed for a laptop?

Am looking to get a new PC and I can use the monitor I currently own but they don't have speakers so I gotta also use the extneral speakers I bought for my laptop but how would they sound vs the in-built speakers in a monitor?

It depends on both. If you are buying good external speakers (like 5.1 or 7.1 surround) ofcourse the sound would be better than the laptop or if you got a good laptop then laptop sound would be great it comes down to the specs. But general the external speakers have more clear and crisp sound as compared to the laptop's build in.
