How Do game Makers get $$$ for making the game?

Do game makers have to make the game only work on a higher computer? my Gtx 550 lasted for all these years and it still works. now these VR Games will not play without a VR headset. i do not have the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ just to play the game. Windows new games only play on DX12 API. i can get a GTX 1050 Ti. game makers only make $$$$$$$$$$$ off of the game.

Right, they only make money by selling the game and they are not going to worry about supporting older equipment any more than other software or hardware companies do.

That would be a poor business decision for them, gimp the game so they can support it on old machines. And they sure are not going to write a bunch more code to have alternate versions to run on older hardware.
