How do I add a line in a ini with win7 64x and notepad?

I have changed certain text in ini files for games but never added a line and I don't want to mess up game completely. I am trying to play Fallout 3 without it freezing and I have patched to 1.7 but I also have quad core so I was going to try the ini core fix. I am able to copy and paste behind the one I had to change the value to 1 for but not sure how to add it under that text. Anyway what I am asking is how to add a line to a ini in a certain spot in the file? Thanks for any info/help!

Just make sure that Fallout3 and CPU ini tweak are in the topic title. Hopefully that will attract someone with experience in that area.

Just right-click the ini file, and go to "edit". If the association has been made already in windows, you can just double click the ini file also.

I still don't know how to insert a line of text in the ini below the line I edited. I can put it below all in that section but I need to put it below a certain line. So how do I add a line below bUseThearedAI=1. Thanks Again!

Use the Enter key to insert a new blank line at the point where your cursor is located.

In the example you showed put the cursor at the end of the bUseThearedAI=1 line and press the Enter key.

DON'T !
DO IT THE RIGHT WAY.
GO TO "RUN"
NOW ENTER THE COMMAND: SYSEDIT
THIS WILL OPEN YOUR SYSTEM CONFIGURATION EDITOR.
YOU WILL FIGURE IT OUT FROM THERE.
DON'T FORGET TO SAVE YOUR OLD VERSIONS AS ".OLD"
THAT WAY YOU CAN RESTORE THEM IF YOU CRIPPLE YOUR MACHINE.

you can "comment out" any line in your .ini
by beginning the line with a semi-colon (😉.
this will make the line inoperative.
this way you can leave lines you have added.
that will make your work "self commenting"
then when you go back, you can see what
what you have been up to.
this is what i have done for years.
by removing the ";" you can reactivate a line.
this is great for on the fly experimentation.
