I have this motherboard-H81M-E34
and i have 8gb of ram already in my pc-10242779

I want to add another 8gb to my computer, and i wanted to know if i need to know anything or do anything beforehand or do i just put it in the slot and that's it?

Oh i didn't phrase it well, i meant i would be getting the same ram i have, so will it work. Do i just put it in the slot and thats it or do i need to download anything etc.?

still not guaranteed. even if it is the same brand, speed, and CL types they are still different. hence why they sell ram in "kits"

Would it just not work or could it damage my pc?

So should i just get any ram that's compatible or is it safer to get the same one?

The best bet would be to get the same one, but considering it's DDR3 you might have a hard time since DDR3 is discontinued.

Just try to find a stick that's as close as possible and hope for the best.

Should i just buy a new DDR4 pair for 16gb ram? Also will my motherboard support it? And im guessing same thing as before i just put it in and that's it.

your motherbord does not support DDR4 ram. and there were no motherboards for 4th gen CPU's that ever did

So better to just buy new set of DDR3 16gb ram or just add on another 8gb?

thats right
