How do I attach and use this switch to a router that doesn't have an uplink port?

I just received my Arris TG2472G DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem+router with 4-port switch.

I have a cisco se1500 switch that I'm trying to attach to it. The router does not have an uplink port. It just has the 4 port switch.

Any clue as to how to properly attach the switch? When I plug it into any of the 4 ports, it doesn't work (orange light lit).

It should, you can plug a switch from any switch port into a port on the router. I have like 6 switches linked throughout my house from router to switch to switch to switch, etc.

so strange. When I plug it in, it lights up orange and nothing work that's plugged into the switch. is there something I need to do in the router to get it to work?

nope, cable from a LAN port on the router to any port on the switch with a standard cable so make that switch work. Nothing special or fancy to do with it.

I'm so baffled then. I had an existing cable modem and router, upgraded to this new DOCSIS 3.0 cablemodem+router combined, and the switch just won't work. The switch worked just fine on the previous router.
