How Do I Change From Single Channel to Dual Channel?

Solution
There are designated paired memory slots on the motherboard, usually with same color, if you have your 2 memory modules of your dual channel kit ( identical specifications) inserted into those slots they will run in dual channel mode, some motherboards have option in bios to enable/disable dual channel mode, what is your motherboard model?

Depending on CPU and motherboard some AMD boards bios have option of ganged and unganged mode to enable/disable memory dual channel, my system mobo Asus Cross hair Formula V bios has this option, on ROG forum some users report benefiting from single channel mode with some CPU's.

I have asrock fm2a68m-hd+.I have installed one stick of 2 gb ddr3 and one stick of 4gb ddr3(6gbs in total). So my issue started when i changed my cpu (from A6 to Athlon), the windows now show that only 3,95gb are used out of the 6 i have installed. And both the cpu-z and the bios say "Single-Channel Mode".

What does CPU-z in the memory tabs say? screen captures if possible and specifications of each ram stick ) are they from same brand, have same voltage and timings, same frequency?) So to my understanding the 2 ram sticks were working in a confirmed dual channel mode before your Processor switch?

Guys i fixed this the ram was just not correctly inserted in the slot. I took it out and put it in again and again and finally it went automatically to dual channel.Thank you all.

Thanks. You get better compatibility and results with matched memory modules (same clock, timings, voltage, and brand), in your case only 4GB- 2GB of each module among the 6GB total- will be working in dual channel.

How do i change from single channel mode to dual from bios?????
Hi having a similar problem have a Ryzen 7 1700 cpu and a B450 tomahawk motherboard, have 4 x4gb of ram ddr4 (hyper) name of ram work fine with only 8gb on the board but when I installed the other two ram on the board bios still only showing 8gb of ram, shows all 4 rams on the board at 2400, bios I think is the lasted 1.4, just wondering if it is still in single channel mode not dual mode and if so how do I change to dual mode, checked the manual but could not make heads or tails of if quite new to all this thanks for your time nick.
