Hi guys,

So I have a G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) and ASUS P7P55 LX LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard which supports a 1600 bandwidth speed. CPU-Z is showing that I am running at PC3-10700 (667 Mhz) speed. Can you guys detail how do I go about changing the 667 Mhz to 800 Mhz and is that a good idea?

Thanks in advance for your help.

There should be a BIOS setting for that. I don't have your motherboard so I wouldn't know where to look in your BIOS but it's in there somewhere.

Don't worry if you can't get the RAM running at a higher speed because you wouldn't notice much, if any, difference in performance. Increasing RAM speed only helps certain applications (such as compression/decompression) but doesn't help most applications much if at all.

Games see no performance increase from faster RAM unless you were to use integrated graphics and even then only AMD's Fusion processors have integrated graphics that's fast enough to take advantage of fast RAM.
