How do I change the default location of my downloads from my C Drive to B Drive?

Heyy,

So i recently had to nuke my HDD and now everything has been set to default again. I want my downloads to go to my B drive instead of my OS Drive aka. my SSD. I remember before that you have to change the letters in the regedit, however I have done this and they are still downloading to the C drive. I think this is because the 64 bit has two regedit's or something, I dunno :S


Please can I have some assistance with this. Thanks

I forgot to mention that its not about the downloading part, its about where they install to. I want all my programs to install to my B: Drive, not C:

downloads using what? Are you talking about a download manager or a p2p client?

One way, go to IE explorer & rigt click on the 'downloads' folder, click properties, then location tab, enter choice ( you can move the existing info if ypu want and/or put it on a different drive.
If you want to use a different folder, most download programs and browsers will let you choose where to download to & will use this till you change it

Usually, your ssd is the "C" drive and your other drive, the hdd ends up with the designation of "D" "E" or some later drive letter. It should be pretty easy to go to the settings of whatever application you are using and click browse and designate the folder you want to download as your default setting whether the application is your web browser (iexplorer, firefox, chrome, etc.) or something like steam for gaming or whatever else.

Now if you simply mean you want to change the default "download folder" that Windows likes to designate that's easy to change without going into regedit or anything like that too:
Just go to your computer folder. Find the download folder. Right click and select properties. Change target to the file path you prefer for example target: "D:\Download" without quotes and you already have made that file named "Download" in your hdd instead of your ssd.

In your browser(s), you can change the default.
Or change the target of "Downloads" in Win Explorer.
