How do I change the ohms settings?

So, I have a nice Sennheisser HD 545 reference, and I absolutely love it, but I'm having a problem. My tests have shown that they have a 300 ohm resistance. On my previous build I was able to change a setting to that 300 ohms, and it improved my sound quality by a lot. Now I cannot seem to find the setting to toggle the impedance. Can someone help me? I use Dolby home theater and Realtek Hd on a 990FXA-UD3 Gigabyte mobo.

You were able to change the output impedance of a sound card? If so that would be news to me. Sure this wasn't on an outboard headphone amplifier?

It wasn't on a sound card. It was just in my audio settings, and it was just for the headphones.

That setting maybe only available on your old rig's audio chipset and not generally available.
