How do I check if my PC cables work?

I built my own custom gaming PC and everything on the PC works fine except my MIC and it's not the headphone itself, It works on other devices but the HD Audio is plugged to the Motherboard so how can i check whats the problem and I have already checked on recording devices and properties and it says that they work properly but still my mic doesnt work, Plz help someone

What other devices does it work on?

Does it 'split' to Mic and Audio? Or a single-cable solution?

If it's single cable (no adapter or splitter), I believe you have to utilize USB for full functionality.
If it's a dual-cable, are both connected? (Ie headphone to headphone jack, mic to mic?)
