How do I check motherboard without cpu?

How do I check to see if the motherboard I'm getting works? I don't have a cpu that works with it, so how am I supposed to check before I get the cpu or before the last return day? Thanks for any suggestions!

Turn it on! See if it powers up. You arent going to find much out though..

About all you can check is 'smoke/no smoke'.

You can't check any functionality with a CPU.
This is why we generally recommend buying everything at once.

In my experience if you get a beep code from the Motherboard it is a good indicator that it works.
hook up a speaker to the front panel connector and turn it on, without a CPU the motherboard will beep, without ram the motherboard will beep. no beep no good

Nothing to check without a processor. As above never buy parts like that buy everything at one time.
