[SOLVED] How do I clear a scanned image from my ET-2750 scanner?

Using my Epson ET-2750, I scanned a magnetic refrigerator magnet poster and the image is in the scanner memory permanently. How do I clear it. Support from the manufacturer could not solve the problem.
I was on the phone with Epson tech support with three different agents for hours. Changed many settings and reloaded and set up unit as it was new in box and no matter what I scan or copy the image is the same as the magnetic picture I scanned to cause this problem. Even a two week power off did not help. I thought I would make one last effort on the forum before loading ink in the new Epson.

It's not in the memory of the scanner, it seems the magnet affected the CCD sensor so they are just stuck on that last image you scanned...

It's not in the memory of the scanner, it seems the magnet affected the CCD sensor so they are just stuck on that last image you scanned and can't reset. Basically it loaded the image into the sensor then the magnets "burned" it into the sensor so it could not refresh after use like it normally does. Remember magnets and electrical signals are very closely related which is why it's not recommended to stick magnets around computers since a magnetic signal can scramble data and other parts https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/electricity/magnets-and-electricity.php

First time I have heard a scanner do what happened with yours, although I have also never heard of someone scanning a magnet before so there is that LOL

Just being a bit curious here...

Was the refrigerator magnet actually metal or that softer rubberized like stuff? Or maybe a super (Neodymium) magnet?

How far apart were the magnet and the CCD?

Was the magnet at the top of the glass, the middle, or the far end?

Maybe sitting where the ribbon cable goes by?

CCD's are capacitors as I understand the process..... And electrons flow about based on focused light reflecting off of the source being scanned. And then those electron flows are captured into digital signals that recreate the image.

I am not sure/convinced that a magnetically induced electrical current would lock charges into the capacitors. Especially in a manner that would preserve the last image.

More likely to simply be random and appear as varying colors and intensities.

Wondering: "no matter what I scan or copy the image is the same as the magnetic picture I scanned to cause this problem.."

Have you tried connecting the machine to a different computer? Or directing scanned images to another folder?

I cannot help but think that something else occurred or is going on. What that would be (full disclosure) I have no idea.

Next time you call Epson - see if you can get to an engineer and ask if refrigerator magnets can be safely scanned.

It would be incredible if you were the first person to ever scan a refrigerator magnet.

"Fascinating" as Spock would say.....

Another option is that it's scanning but in a different directory so when you look where you think it should be all you see is your last scan. Is there a scan preview that shows what will be saved? Does the scanner actually go through the whole scanning motion then present the preview as that magnet scan?

Something is acting in a fashion similar to the screen burn in you see on TVs and monitors where an image is permanently on the display. Don't think anyone here has seen this, it's for sure an interesting thing.
