I am sure that there has been another question like this, but I am unsure if I was following the recommendations correctly. So, I will give my scenario, and hopefully we can work through this. I recently upgraded my cpu. I changed the processor from Intel E8400 to Intel Q6600. My mobo is the Asus P5G41t-M LX PLUS. This mobo supports this chip according to the Asus support page. I have a 1TB sata had, a 600watt thermaltake psi, 2 4GB ram sticks, and a Nvidia GeForce GT430. Now, before I installed the new cpu, the pc ran great. Many games ran ok, but I wanted to try the quad for testing purposes. So when i purchased it, I turned off the power. Unplugged the machine, and very carefully while being grounded, removed the cpu cooler, and the old cpu. I put in the new chip, and replaced the cooler. I plug everything up and turn on the pc. And to my shock, no keyboard, no post. But, upon checking each component, via breadboard technique, I find all components working. I rebuilt the thing. Then by accident, I hit the reset button. It posted! But I got a bsod. I heard that the gpu could be a factor with new cpu. So I restarted, and tried the onboard gpu. Now it won't post. Same issues as before. Nothing is shorted out. So, I need to start over. Can anyone give me a in-depth step by step guide on how to clear cmos?

after reading what you have said if you push the "Delete" key you can access the bios just tap it a few times before booting and see what is wrong but you will need the cooler on the CPU. The Asus bios is normally very good and will probably show you temps and everything it maybe your cooler is not sufficient for the new CPU but I do not know.

Sorry, I meant BSOD. I thought it could be also the gpu and tried using onboard graphics. Still the pc won't boot or post. And no keyboard. I can't remember what I did last time, that got it working. So, I wanted to start over.
