My current WD Blue is failing and is out of warranty which means I will need to buy a new one very soon. I have only games and a few documents on that HDD as my Windows is installed on my SSD. So can I just copy/paste all of the WD's content to the new HDD and just rename the root directly to what the old one was or will things not work if i do it this way?
Sorry if I'm not wording my question very well. Let me know if I need to clarify anything.

Solution
Copy/paste and swap the drive letter around should work.
The new drive ends up with the same drive letter as the old one.

Don't grab ALL of it to copy at once. Do it in chunks.
