I can't stand to wear headsets, so I just sit mine on the desk and plug in only the mic jack. I need to buy a new headset for use on Skype after I closed the laptop lid on the wire🙁 Most of them are now USB, and I don't want to have to wear it.I seem to find jacks to USB conversion, but not USB to 3.5mm jack conversion. Any suggestions? I teach English so my voice needs to come across very clearly. Has anyone bought any inexpensive headsets with great mic sound even if you don't wear the headset? Thanks!!!!

There are adapters / converters, because it is a different technology. The 3.5mm jack is an analog signal and uses the sound chip / card of your PC / notebook. The ubs version has a build-in sound chip and a digital signal on the usb plug. What I don't get so far: Why do you use a headset anyway, if you cant stand to wear it? You can use a separate mic on a stand and speakers instead. Or a tiny bluetooth for mobile phones.

I want a headset because there are some occasions when I have to use it, and I don't want to buy a new mic AND a new headset.
What I was asking is: When I try to search for an adapter/converter from USB to 3.5mm jacks, I only find jacks to USB. I was thinking that maybe I'm not using the right search terminology for the adapter that I need. Can you tell me exactly what to search for? Thanks!!!

USB to 3.5mm jacks is not going to work. That's why you don't find it.

Ok....I'm sorry, I didn't understand that from your first post. Well.....hmmmm.....I guess I'll have to buy headsets that come with 3.5mm jacks. It kind of narrows my choices. I just thought if you could go from jacks to USB, the reverse would work too. Apparently not! Thanks!
