Hello, I encrypted my transcend hard drive with truecrypt, to do this I had to format the drive with the truecrypt programme, I then moved all of my files back on to the hard drive. Some of the files were encrypted with transcends elite programme, when I went to decrypt them, the elite programme told me "you must connect a transcend storage device to use elite." I would like to know if it is possible to use an external programme to decrypt these files, so I don't have to buy another transcend storage device. Cheers any help would be highly appreciated, I don't want to redo about 10 years of research all over again.

1. Do you know the password you used to encrypt the files?

2. What happened to your transcend hard drive?

Encryption is designed to protect files from unauthorized access. Unfortunately that can include the original owner if the password is forgotten. It sometimes seems that encryption causes more real problems than the largely imaginary ones it solves. You'll appreciate that this site can't help with the decryption of files, passwords, etc. as it is difficult to verify that the person asking the question is the owner of the protected data.
