by mistake i have put some files and folders in the system volume information folder of my pendrive. now i cant delete those useless files and folders and therefore lot of memory/space in my pendrive is getting wasted and i'm not able to put other files in my pendrive. please suggest a way to delete these files and folders from inside the system volume information folder in my pendrive. if you can suggest a way to delete the whole folder then thats ok too. please help me !

Solution
Try changing the file attributes via the command prompt.

Here is a link with explanation:

However, if something else such as admin rights or a password is protecting those files then attrib may not work.

when i click on the "yes" button of that delete window. even then nothing happens, and no message is displayed and the file/folder just remains as it is , as if i never deleted it . Please help me

i'm not trying to accomplish anything like that. i just wanted to delete the files and folders that are MINE and not SYSTEM'S that i have put into the system folder by mistake, so that so much memory is not wasted. pls help me !

Ex-bubblehead's question is relevant.

What file manipulation was being done? Software, file types....etc.

How you managed to get those files into that volume may help find the solution.

Did you drag&drop, use copy & paste, some application (backup software), or maybe a utility package?

Providing the make and model of the pen drive as well could help.

i have put a folder in it. in that folder there are some more folders. these folders have some videos, images and ppt files.
i had put that folder by drag and drop method.
and i didnt want to put that folfer in the system file. i wanted to drop it in another folder. but by mistake i had put it in the system folder.
and i dont kno the model, etc of the pen drive as it was given to me by a friend, if you can then please help me.

Check the folders and files. Are there any folders or files that are designated RO (Read Only)?

Are you sure that you can normally delete folders and files in othe locations?

Look at the pen driver very carefully:

What logo is on it? Any numbers or letters? Can you post an image?

the whole folder of system volume information folder is designated as "read only (only applies to files in folder)"
the other files and folders outside this folder can be deleted
and my pendrive has no logo at all
it is a steel pendrive
and i think so it must be some local types of pendrive.
