How do I determine a processor's chipset when buying a motherboard?

I am new to buying processors, and I want to buy an Intel i7-6700, along with a compatible motherboard. Searching on newegg.com, motherboards always notate that they are compatible with a particular chipset. However, when looking at the specs for the processor (http://ark.intel.com/products/88196/Intel-Core-i7-6700-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_00-GHz#@specifications), I can find no mention of a chipset. The only thing I can find is a page listing compatible desktop boards (http://ark.intel.com/products/88196/Intel-Core-i7-6700-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_00-GHz#@compatibility), which mentions various chipset names.

I'm confused, to say the least! Can anyone help clarify this for me? Thanks.

chipset is on the motherboard, not the cpu
any of the 1xx chipset can should support all the new skylake cpu
