How do I do a BIOS update on a ASUS P8P67-LE board?

I've downloaded the latest BIOS file from the ASUS site (latest BIOS version is 3801. Mine is 1017) and it came in the form of a .rom file. What do I do next? Put that file onto a thumb drive and then boot from it? Will such an update do anything particularly positive to my system?

Do you really need to update? It basically gives support to newer CPUs, if your CPU is already supported, there is no real reason to update your BIOS.

No I guess not, I just noticed my BIOS had never been updated, so thought it might be something that needed/was worth doing.

It doesnt brings up much more to the table, there may be a difference in the user interface of the BIOS, and maybe more options, but other than that and the support of newer CPUs, there is not much of a difference.
