How to make Windows 8 Dual Boot
In order to remove Windows 8 operating system from a dual boot computer that also has Windows 7 installed, step-by-step instructions given below should be followed:
- ■Start the computer from which Windows 8 operating system is to be uninstalled.
■On Choose an operating system screen, click Windows 7 to boot the computer using Windows 7 operating system.
■Log on to Windows 7 computer with the administrator account.
■On the desktop screen, press Windows + R keys simultaneously to initiate the Run command box.
■On the opened Run command box, type MSCONFIG.EXE command in the available field, and press Enter key.
■On the displayed System Configuration box, go to Boot tab.
■From the available list of installed operating systems, click to select Windows 7 (C:\Windows) : Current OS.
■Once selected, click Set as default button to make the selected Windows 7 operating system the default OS.
■Once done, click to select Windows 8 (F:\Windows). (Where F is the drive letter of the volume on which Windows 8 is currently installed for this demonstration.)
■Click Delete button to delete the entry of Windows 8 operating system.
■Click OK when done.
■On the System Configuration box, click Exit without restart to restart the Windows later.
■On the desktop screen, click Start.
■From the Start menu, click Computer.
■On the right pane of the displayed window, right-click the hard disk drive partition where Windows 8 is installed.
■From the context menu that appears, click Format.
■On the opened format volume box, make sure that Quick Format checkbox is checked under Format options section.
■Click Start to format the selected volume.
■On the displayed warning box, click OK to start the formatting.
■Once completed, on the displayed box, click OK.
■Back on the format volume box, click Close and restart the computer.
