I found a lot of drives that are manufactured, so you can not boot from them.

There is no such thing as a platter USB drive (from my knowledge)
all USB flash drives can be booted to......

USB drives are any drives(data storage) that connect thru USB port, Beside classic ones Like USB dongle,stick etc. you can use HDDs, ODDs, USB adapters for SD cards and there are even Floppy disk drives. All of them can be used fro booting if made bootable.
