How do I fix hard drive showing disk space not free?

I just formatted my PC and all my files are gone but my [strike]disc[/strike] disk space on the C drive is the same as it was before formatting. Help??

Are you sure it was the C: drive you formatted?

(You may have formatted the wrong drive/wrong partition).

Then how do I make sure? All the files on the PC, including C drive, are gone so it must have formatted it.

If you did it correctly, there's no way the files could still be there taking up space.

Well I'm browsing my C drive and all program files are gone but the C drive only has 100 / 980 GB free sooo something went wrong.

It certainly would help if you would send in a screenshot of Disk Management accessing the problem drive. Ensure the screenshot displays the info in the columns beneath the menu bar (Volume through %Free). Also, report on the drive's partitioning scheme - MBR or GPT.

That means nothing to us when you didn't tell us what the capacity of that drive is or how much free space it should have -
