How do I fix my printer?

I replaced the ink in my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless printer. This caused an "alignment error". It appeared to print the alignment page correctly, but it thought there was an error.

I looked up the problem and found a solution: Reset the printer by unplugging and replugging the power cord while the printer is still on. Unfortunately, this made things worse. Now it lost the ability to print Magenta. Obviously I won't trust that site again.

How do i fix my unintentional sabotage and get the printer back to normal? I really don't want to buy a new one.

I really don't think unplugging the printer caused the Magenta issue. Printers get unplugged all the time. It's like saying "my car ran out of petrol, I was told to change the tyres, but now it won't start!".

It is likely that when you replaced the ink, not enough magenta has come through to start printing properly. That's a separate issue. It normally takes several head cleans and test prints to make the ink come through.

Try this.......and if it starts raining.......it's not my fault!

Hi,
I faced the same issue. I would run the cleaning function of the printer on as high a level as it will let you. I think it will only let you increase the cleaning level one at a time (it's been a while since I did this.) This fixed my issues with faded or little ink coming out on documents.
