how do i format a hard drive

i dont know what is happening i've been building a pc and i need to format my hard drive i was told

during the windows installation you will get the chance to tell it where to install to. at that point it will let you partition and format the drive as needed.

that's all you have to do. simply format it when installing windows to it.
