How do I format a Write Protected USB DVD

I formatted a DVD-R and copied files like in a pendrive now want to delete or format, it says write protected. How to reformat it?

You cannot erase a DVD-R. They're write-once; you'll need to get a new disk if you want to write something again.

DVD-R RW can be re-used a small number of times.
