i recently was advised by computer technician to purchas a external hard drive 500gb to do backing up to but the hard drive dose not seem to do a full backup or document and file because it states there is insuficiant room the make is IOMEGA MODEL No MMHDG

You haven't said how large the backup is in total, nor how much free space is on the Iomega drive.
