How do i get a computer to play an older pc game

i have an older computer game called Act of war: Direct action and i cant get it to play on my newer computer

try compatibility mode

right click the games executable set up file and select troubleshoot compatibility

Things to try:-
1). install available patches/updates
2). run in compatability mode

thing to note:-
*the architecture of the pc changes over time and may have change to an extent where the game no longer runs
*the game itself may be coded to run on specific operating systems and yours may not be one of them (I found this when I tried to run Second Sight on Windows 7)
