so the m.2 finally arrived and I had installed it into my computer. I am unsrlure what to do in my bios as well as transferring the O/s to the m.2. Furthermore I can see the M2 in the device list of my Bios but that's as far as it seems to go. What are the steps needed to just take the windows o/s partition and transfer it given that is even possible ?

Can you show screenshot from Disk Management?
(upload to imgur.com and post link)

Generally - you clone OS drive to the new SSD.
But ... new SSD has to be large enough for this to work.

BTW - what model SSD?
So i have 1tb HDD and I want to be able to swap the OS to the 512GB SSD. its the ADATA SX8100Np and im using a B450 Tomahawk MAx Motherboard. So what you are saying is i either completely wipe my HDD and then Clone the Partition over to the SSD ?

You have to make sure, system can boot from SSD alone before you can clean up your HDD.
Can you show screenshot from Disk Management?

Please explain in detail, what happens, when you try to boot from SSD.
When I try to boot from SSD alone it gives me a blue screen stating that it needs a repair and that nothing is accessed at one point it was black screen telling me to plug in my boot drive. In BIos though it shows that the HDD was disabled

Try it again, just like this:

-----------------------------
Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe all partitions on it.
This will probably require the commandline diskpart function, and the clean command.

Ask questions if anything is unclear.
