how do I get my Optiarc BD-DVD drive to connect?

why can't I use my Optiarc™ BD-ROM BC-5500S4 in my Sony Vaio vpcl116fx?

You'll have to supply more information than that, such as what happens when you try to use it? What are the symptoms?

Media software apps that play dvd work fine. I've updated all the drivers according to he Sony site. The drive shows in the device manager but any Bluray disc inserted into it is deemed unreadable. I get no error messages only disc is absent or unreadable media.

I've tried the 2 methods regarding editing the registry and deleting Vaio software without results. The registry method didn't yield the high and low filter lines expected. My Win 7 doesn't show those.
