well, if the partitions are not ntfs, you can just use a win98 boot disk and fdisk and reformat as usual. if the partitions are ntfs you need to run the 3 setup disks and when you come to the partition info section, just delete them. if you dont have the disks, you can make them on another nt system by running the winnt or winnt32 /ox command with the os disk in the cd drive.

...and i would have gotten away with it, if it weren't for you meddling kids...

Um... if you want to install linux, just boot off of the linux cd/floppy and use it's own fdisk (or Disk druid) util to repartition the drive during the setup procedure. That's it.

I can´t do that before I change the bios setup which I can´t do unless I know the password! Catch 22..

Then you asked the wrong question. The BIOS password is not the NT password, they are unrelated. You need to clear the CMOS. Depending what m/b it is, there will be a jumper somewhere. Depending on the board, you either put the jumper on for a few seconds, put the jumper on and turn the computer on, or if it has a jumper on those pins already you remove it for a few seconds. Then you can go into the BIOS and do what you want. The NT password is another story. Just wipe the drive.
