how do I get start screen after updating to window 8.1

After updating from windows 8 to 8.1 I no longer see the start screen. I see only a blue screen with the "windows start button" at the left hand side of the task bar - at the bottom of the screen" . How do I get the windows start screen back?

You either press the windows button or you can now click on the start button at the bottom left to go to the start screen. You can also right click on the start button at the bottom left to get some shortcut options

Hi Krishna, Thanks very much for your quick reply. However, non of the suggestions are working for me. The start button is not responding to any mouse clicks. Not even the one on my keyboard. I have seen a double arrow on the taks bar. When I click it, it shows me a list of the applications on my pc. However, when I select an application and right click, I get a short menu with "pin to stsart" and "pin to Taskbar". When I select any of the two, the icon is always pinned on the task bar. The start screen is never shown. I see just a blue screen.
Please let have any other suggestion.

hmm i think a reformat might be in order here is that going to be an issue for you?
