how do i get steam code to give away?

i have seen people giveing away steam codes on r/pcmasterace and i would like to do one myself . is there a way i can get some codes from steam and just give that to peaple ? i cant just get a code from gamestop or something because i was planing on giveing away about 3 copies of half-life for anyone who hasn't played it yet , and they don't sell half-life codes at gamestop . thank you for reading .

You can, or used to be able to, buy a game and say it's a gift for someone else. It would then spit out a code that you can PM someone. If you do this three times that should work. The last time I bought a game for someone and said it was a gift I selected the friend from my list of friends. So I'm not sure if this still works.

I have a bunch of codes I've never used from my heavy use of Humblebudle. Check them out. Perhaps you can use them. Keep the games you want, gift/sell the ones you don't.
