[SOLVED] How do I get Windows 10 Home OEM?

Hi all,

I have a question concerning Windows 10 Home.

I recently built a new pc (new mobo, new GFX card, new processor, new RAM). As every hardware component is new, I also decided to go for a fresh install of windows; I used the windows 10 media creation tool to install windows 10 home.

As I went for a new windows install, I thought I could use an OEM key code. However, I cannot successfully activate Windows using the OEM key code I got; the system gives the following error code: error 0xc004c060 (you do not have a valid licence or key)

If I run command prompt and check the installation (slmgr.vbs /dlv), the output shows the following:
description: Windows operating system: RETAIL channel
Product key channel: Retail

Does this imply that I have a windows 10 retail version? Or does the system identify my key code as being a retail key code instead of an OEM key code?

Subsequently, how can I resolve the current issue?
  1. How do I install a windows 10 home OEM version to match with the OEM key code I have?
  2. Or do I need a retail key code?

I hope that someone can help! Many thanks in advance. :)

Thanks for the response! I got the key from a webshop; there seem to be a ton of resellers for the products keys.

Hmm, that makes me doubt the legitimacy of the key itself then (I am sure that I have a windows 10 home installation, so that should not be the problem). I will then just proceed to buy it from the Microsoft website directly, I guess that should be more reliable?

Thanks for the information!
Yep, there is the problem.

Bogus license key.
I'm curios to learn where you got a hold of the licence key for the OS. If you genuinely own a licence key for the Home version of Windows 10, regardless of it being OEM or retail, it should work, unless you installed Windows 10 Pro and are trying to use the Home licence key.
