How do I get Windows 8.1 64bit to detect my hard drive on a clean install?

When it gets to part where it asks me when i want Windows installed the hard drive doesn't show up. It asks me to load the drivers, but I tried the drivers that came with the motherboard disk and none of those worked. I also tried the ones from Gigabytes website also to no avail. I also checked in the BIOS to make sure it was registering and it does show up.

I don't know what else to try. Thank you in advance to anyone who takes a look at this and anybody who might have a solution to my problem.

This is the gear I have for this build.

Gigabyte z68x-ud3h-b3 (rev. 1.3) BIOS F12

Corsair Vengeance LP 4 x 4gb

Intel i5 3570 3.4GHZ

Rosewill Capstone-650

Seagate Desktop SSHD 1Tb ST1000DX001

I'm also adding an Sapphire HD 7870 2GB Overclock edition, but I haven't installed it yet. I was going to wait until I had installed the OS first.

Again, thanks for any help I can get!

Well I went back into the BIOS and changed the setting from IDE to AHCI and made sure that quickboot was disabled. I'm not too sure how to make sure about the Quickboot. I don't think I saw an option for that. Tried installing it again, still doesn't show up. still keeps asking for a storage driver. I tried to load the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology driver that I found from gigabytes website, that didn't work either.

The Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver is used for RAID. I took a look at your mobo's manual, by default, it sets all the Hard Drives to IDE mode (legacy mode), and there were several spots to change everything to AHCI. It doesn't have secure boot - so you don't have to worry about that. You shouldn't need any drivers - this message is because Windows isn't detecting that you have a drive installed and assumes you need a driver.

Is this the only drive in the computer?

I see, yeah i didn't think I needed to have anything. (driver) It was the only one that had the word "storage" in it. I figured it was worth a shot. lol It didn't take it anyways.

I went into Integrated Peripherals and changed the setting of "PCH SATA Control Mode" from IDE to AHCI and I also changed the GSATA3 setting from IDE to AHCI. After I changed those settings when I look in the Standard CMOS features nothing shows up anymore. I'm guessing because they are not IDE anymore? Is there any other place I need to change it to AHCI?

And yeah that's the only drive I have hooked up to it.
