Question How do I go about upgrading my CPU?

Hey there,
So I have had this pc for about 2 - 3 years now and I think it's time for an upgrade as my cpu is quite old and definitely bottlenecks my GPU.

My current system specifications are:
Motherboard
: Gigabyte H110M-S2
Processor : Intel Pentium G4560 @3.5GHZ
Graphics card : iGame Colorful GTX 1060 6GB
RAM : HyperX 4x2 (8GB)
Power supply : 550W EVGA
Storage : HyperX 120gb SSD and 1TB Hard drive

Monitor : Acer GN246HL Bbid (144hz 1080p)

My budget for this whole thing is 250$ right now but I can stretch it up to 300$ and can even save up more if advised. Pretty sure I would also need to get a new motherboard for it to be a bit more future proof.

I can also wait for the new CPU models to release if advised to. I'm not in a hurry. Thank you for reading :)

If I go for this option then how long do you think it would last me until I need to upgrade again? And no, I do not need the latest and greatest.
You could also go with an i7-6700 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015XEW9BA/?tag=pcpapi-20 for under $300. Having a 4c/4t processor you will be OK for AAA games for another year or 2. More and more new games are using more than 4 threads all the time. Having a 4c/8t processor will probably be good for 3-4 years.

would you recommend I go for this instead of the i5 7600?
i5-7600 is a 3.5GHz base with 4.1GHz boost. https://ark.intel.com/content/www/u...5-7600-processor-6m-cache-up-to-4-10-ghz.html
i7-6700 is a 3.4GHz base with 4.0GHz boost. https://ark.intel.com/content/www/u...7-6700-processor-8m-cache-up-to-4-00-ghz.html

Since there is no difference in architecture between 6th and 7th gen, the only difference in performance will be clock speed related and number of threads used. With only 100MHz difference, in single threaded applications the 7600 will be about 2.5% faster (not really noticeable), in multi threaded applications the 6700 will be faster for anything over 4 threads. Odds are they will overall perform identically up to 4 threads with the 6700 being faster in things over 4 threads. In the end in my opinion you will get more out of your CPU investment with the 6700 than the 7600 since more and more games are using more than 4 threads all the time.

Alrighty. I'll go for the i7 6700.

I had to update my mother board's BIOS for the G4560 so it could support 7th gen. would I need to downgrade to a lower version of the BIOS by any chance?
