Hi I have an Asus Z97-k. For an ssd to run at its best everyone says plug it into the Intel 6gb/s sata port. But I can't identify which it is, since none of them seem to be blue.

Oh. So as far as ssd performance goes it won't matter which two I use? Currently using 5 and 6. The thing is the speed when I transfer stuff between my hdd and ssd is always around 100 to 160 mb/s. Which I think is slow by ssd standards. So what else could be the problem? Using a Samsung 850 evo 500gb. Used the magician to optimise settings to high performance.

It makes no difference, if 500 cars (the data) on a 6 lane road (SSD speed) have to go into a 1 lane road (HDD Speed)
Things are going to slow down.

If 500 cars (the data) on a 1 lane road (HDD speed) have to go into a 6 lane road (SSD Speed)
They aren't going to get out of the one lane road fast enough

Ah. Okay that makes sense. Sooo the speeds I'm getting are normal? And what do all these people work posts saying they have 800mb/s read speed and 600mb/s write speed even mean?

Yes, those speeds are normal.
You can get faster speeds by removing the HDD factor from the equation.
If you were to transfer files from one SSD to another, or copy a folder on the SSD to another location, your speeds will drastically increase.
