[SOLVED] How do I increase resolution on an image to make it a 5 x 4 foot sign?

So I have a 3 meg image that is 1073x1167 and I gave it to a printing shop to make a banner that is 5 feet high and 4 feet wide. They told me that it would be way too blurry to print it at that size and I need to give them a much higher resolution version.

How do I do that? Can anybody recommend good software that can prepare this to a high enough resolution for them? Thanks.

P.S. A 501c charity is counting on this sign for a restroom fundraiser so I don't want to let them down.

No software can invent missing pixels to make your picture high-res. So, you either have to re-take the photo using highest resolution available, or play with the original, enlarging it by eg 20% in until you reach about 6000px, and accept defeat.

You have to start with a high resolution image/photo. You don't add pixels later. For your finished size you're looking at a source image of no less than 4k x4k.

Get inkscape and recreate a vector based graphic of the photo, vectorgraphics can be blown up as much as you like, just get the aspect ratio correct.

it has tools to do this automatically but if your charity has access to some artist they might do a much better job of it.
