How do I increase the "dedicated" memory for HD Graphics 4600?

Hey everyone!

I just sent my EVGA GTX970 for RMA and for now I'm using Intel HD Graphics 4600.

When I was young I remember of using some of my RAM memory to improve the graphics performance. But I can't find the place to set this in the BIOS of my MOBO.

MOBO: ASUS Maximus VII Hero
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 16gb (2x8gb)

The image is in brazilian portuguese, but I think you can understand.
And I'm for my poor english, my main language is portuguese.

Hope you guys can help me out.

You have to refer to your motherboard manual and change it in the BIOS, under Graphics Configuration > CPU Graphics Memory > Allows you to select the amount of system memory allocated to DVMT 5.0 used by the CPU Graphics.

How much can be allocated depends on your motherboard model, up to 512MB on my H97 for example.

you're welcome. yea i've seen some AMD motherboards support 2GB shared, not sure why Intel's kinda low.

I've changed to 512MB but still shows 128mb on the HD Graphics 4600 properties.

what about when running a game?

The memory is not dedicated and is taken from the RAM. You can try the following to see if it uses the RAM properly.

1) GPU-Z-> http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
I've never tried this on an iGPU, however I would expect you to see 512MB assigned under "Graphics card-> Memory size"

2) Update intel graphics drivers:
Go to intel site and install the tool to auto-scan your system. If it finds a new graphics driver install that.

3) In "Task Manager" you should see roughly 512MB less than your physically installed memory in some places. Probably (but not 100% sure) under "Memory-> Memory usage"; I have 8GB currently installed and show 7.9GB. If you had 8GB you might show 7.4GB.

4) Run DXDIAG > Display tab

I have 16gb of RAM and I saw the total memomy that I can use is only 15.4gb now.
But the fps didn't changed in the games.

15.4, so it has allocated the 512MB. I'm not sure if more memory can improve the iGPU FPS (it's integrated after all), having 8GB or more physical RAM should be able to share 1024MB to the iGPU according to Intel but it seems to be limited by the motherboard depending on manufacturer. I hear it's also possible to overclock the Asus iGPU with AI Suite for better performance though, not sure if it's worth doing as I havent personally tried that.
