Hello. I'm using Windows 10. I recently had two built-in programs: Paint and Paint 3D. Somehow, the original Paint program got removed, and now I'm left with Paint 3D. By the "original", i mean this:

In the past, I was able to open this program by clicking on an image file and then selecting "Edit". Now the "Edit" button is missing, and I'm left only with "Edit with Photos" and "3D edit", which don't open the same program.

Is it possible to install the program again, or is the program deleted from Microsoft's servers?

And is this a Windows install you've altered in any way? And one that you obtained directly from Microsoft?

Yes, I have altered the OS; but all alterations are legitimate and there are tutorials published by Microsoft.

Yes, the OS is obtained legitimately and is licensed.

The missing Paint is not caused by the alteration, because I did the alterations a long time ago, but the Paint disappeared recently, not immediately after I made the alterations.

It turned out the Paint was removed, because it's not compatible with my version of Windows. Also, Paint can't be found on Microsoft Store, because, again, is not compatible with my Windows OS version.

Here is the message i get when I try to find the Paint program using the Microsoft Store website, not the Microsoft Store app:

"The version of Windows on your PC doesn't meet the minimum requirements for this product."

So, it seem the Paint program is blocked for any Windows OS that is older than Windows 11. Now, you must have Windows 11, or you can't have Paint.

My Windows 10 OS is 10.0.19044 Build 19044

How did it come to be removed?
My Current WIn 10 Pro still has it.

Does it simply fail to show in the list of applications?
Search for it. It may appear.
My Windows 10 is also Pro, but Paint was removed and is now available only for Windows 10, as shown above.

How do you still have Paint? Maybe you are running Windows 10 that doesn't have the latest updates... and if you install the latest update, Paint will be removed.
And now that I am home, I can verify Paint (not Paint3D or paint.net) also exists on my Win 11 box.
As well as ALL my Win 10 boxes and VMs.

So what did YOU do to make it not be there?
I didn't do anything.

If you really really want, I'll crank up my little Win 10 Pro fully updated laptop, and show you the exact same thing.

And I did it anyway....

FYI... on my fully up to date W10 pro rig, Paint is ( & has been for a while) located in the Windows accessories folder, along with IE, note pad & a few other legacy apps.. It does not show up in the regular app directory like it used to, but a windows file explorer search should still be able to find it... :D

Exactly as I said yesterday...Search, and it magically appears.

It was always there, just that the user has to be smarter than the PC.

Here is the information of my Windows OS:

As you can see, I, too, have the latest version.

When I press the Windows button + R, and type msinfo32, it says this is my version: "Version: 10.0.19044 Build 19044". So, why does the system shows two different versions? Could it be that Microsoft Store detects the wrong version, a version that is very old, much older than the actual version i have, and this is the reason why i cant download Paint?

No idea.

What "modifications" have you done?

The version the image is showing is windows 11, are you sure you looking at right version of paint?

version on store should work with 10 - https://www.xda-developers.com/microsoft-paint-snipping-tool-apps-microsoft-store/

have you tried
right click start button

choose powershell (admin)

copy/paste this command into window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth

and press enter

Then type SFC /scannow

and press enter

Restart PC if SFC fixes any files as some fixes require a restart to be implemented

First command repairs the files SFC uses to clean files, and SFC fixes system files

SFC = System File Checker. First command runs DISM - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/what-is-dism?view=windows-11

tried this? https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials...osoft-paint-mspaint-windows-10-a.html#option1

Most people should be on or near 19044 now, as its latest version of 10. I wonder if they adjusted their support range after extending the time between versions.
22H2 has to be soon so that might fix it... depends on how much he adjusted.
