Hey guys, I'm having some trouble downloading Windows 8 drivers. I would like to know how to do this properly.

I know how to uninstall and delete with trexxy but downloading and installing is the problem.

Solution
If you are looking for drivers for a specific hardware device, we will need to know what device you need drivers for.

Generally speaking drivers are:
  • Included natively in Windows
USB 3.0 drivers for Windows 8 and generic VGA drivers for Windows are some examples.
    Provided via Windows Update
Many drivers for printers and USB devices which are automatically downloaded and installed when the device is connected.
Installed manually from a download provided by the hardware manufacturer
The manufacturer of a motherboard or a specific chipset will provide these on their website. To install these drivers, search the manufacturer’s website for a download or support section, then enter your device information to locate...
Many drivers are provided by Windows Update. They would be installed automatically when hardware is detected, such as when connecting a new USB device, or when Windows Update is run. To run Windows Update manually to view optional updates including some driver updates, enter Windows Update at the Start Screen and select Install Optional Updates under Settings. Select the link to Check for updates on the left side of the window, then, if updates are found select the link for N optional updates are available. You can check the box next to updates you would like to install any may find updates for devices in this list.

Other driver updates may be provided directly from the device manufacturer. These drivers would need to be acquired from the download page supplied by the manufacturer and installed as an application.

More information is provided at the Windows Support page What if a device isn’t installed properly?, details on how to check for updates are outlined in the Windows automatic updating FAQ.

Installed manually from a disk provided with the hardware
These disks will contain drivers for the hardware for supported operating systems at the time of manufacture. Downloaded drivers from the manufacturer website will usually be newer and more up to date than those provided on a disk.
You can find information about the compatibility of a specific hardware device, as well as instructions as to whether or not drivers are provided by Windows Update at the Windows Compatibility Center.

What he said is true :)

GIGABYTE provides the drivers for the GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 4.1) here and for the GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 5.0) here. The drivers for each revision are different for each revision as there are different chipsets on the motherboard. The latest GeForce graphics drivers are available here from NVIDIA.

In each scenario, follow the prompts to download each installation package, save the package to your system, and then run the installation package and follow the prompts. For the motherboard you will need only one or the other SATA driver depending on if your motherboard is configured in RAID or AHCI mode for storage. If you have only one hard drive, AHCI is most likely the mode in use.

Thanks but HOW do i install? Go to device manager blah blah blah

The files downloaded from either site are .exe files, in other words, programs. Double clicking on the file or selecting run at the download complete screen will launch the installation process. The prompts for each driver will be different, but very generally speaking you will be prompted to accept license terms, prompted for an installation location which you should leave at default, and prompted to select which components of the driver to install which you should also leave at default. The installation process will register and configure the driver files in the right locations and install any applications that are provided with the driver to provide access for user configuration. The process will complete and you will be prompted to select finish to end the installation program.

In some cases, driver files are provided without an installation program. These files will appear with the extension .inf. To install these files, open Device Manager from the menu of administrative tools found by right clicking in the bottom left corner. Locate the device you wish to update the driver for or install, if it is not currently installed it may appear as an unknown device. Right click and select Update Driver Software, then select Browse my computer for driver software. Browse to the location of the files, then select OK, and then next to install the drivers. Instructions are provided under the Windows Support article Update a driver for hardware that isn’t working properly under the category To download and update a driver yourself.
