How do I kill a hunter with only Coventant weapons?

Level 3- The Truth and Reconciliation Legendary level
I am waiting for Cortana to access the enemy computer system and open
the door. I have survived all attackers ( with one health bar to start
with). Now the two hunters appear. I only have a plasma rifle and a needler.
Can they be beat with only Coventant weapons?
Man, I dream of a pistol.....

Must I kill the hunters? Or can I find a good hiding spot, run around
and avoid them, and finally Cortana will open the doors?????

Never tried waiting. But probably you have to kill them before the game will
move on...

I guess your best tactic would be to let them charge you (hopefully one at a
time)
Step to the side, let them run past and 'mele' them (Hit them with your
weapon butt) in the 'sweet spot' on their back...

Needles and plasmas worked great for me on heroic... but i haven't
gotten there on legendary yet...

I thought normal level was way too easy, think I might have died a handful
of times, kept the pace of the game up though.
No this is a true console title, you need to kill the Hunters to move on.
A tactic I use is to get close, let them charge me (backpedalling all the
time), and when he swings and his arm is up, shoot him in the belly or groin
😉. The glowin' orange bits anyway.
Works one shot with the pistol and shotgun, should work with plasma. You
will see the orange blood if you are doing damage.
Might work with the needler, but that weapon is generally too slow for such
things - great effect though.

Get them close to the edge and jump out of the way as they charge and the
fall off, melee works too just takes longer thats all.

I had a Plasma rifle, but the secret for me was to get behind them and attack
from the rear. After hours of charging from the front and dieing, 1 attack from
the rear did it.

i have tried attacks from the rear with many wapons, and theyre difficult to
accomplish when its only you and him, so i either resort to a missle
launcher, or platform weapon, or i use a combo of plasma rifle and plasma
pistol, the plasma seems to hurt them in most areas. naturally aim for the
upper body to avoid their shield. fire the powerful bursts from the pistol
and plenty of rounds from the rifle. any number of combos will do it, but i
have had little luck with the needler, as ait just bounces off the sheild.
i have actually found covenant weapons more efective from the front, rather
than human weapons.

Here's what you do, if you have a needler, keep sidestepping as you fire all
you have at the hunter. reload and do it 2-3 more times. full clips worth
each time. it you should see him explode a couple times and the third
should be the last time and he'll fall. you can Melee him in the back if
your lucky enough, or experienced enough. Happy Hunting..
