Question How do I know if a cpu is compatible with my laptop?

I have an old HP Cq58-309sq and I want to upgrade it. It comes with a celeron b830, socket G1 and I tried to upgrade it because now I cant even play paladins on low 720p!
I tried an i3 380m, didn't wannt to work, then an i3 2350m that worked very nice withhd graphics 3000, but it was shooting down every 30 minutes.
How do I know wich cpu is compatible with my laptop?

Idk, it dosen't matter, even if I let the pc open with no tasks it shuts down at exactly 30 minutes from start. Is a chipset limitation

He was asking you what the CPU temperature is when it's running to see if it's thermal throttling and shutting off the computer to keep the CPU from overheating and damaging itself.

Thx for everyone that tried to help me, but I have gone to a specialst, and they said that my motherboard is not compatible with i3 :/

You could try a first gen i7. Your current cpunis first gen so it should work.

I think that this is not worth at all. I better buy a pc,cuz I've found out that the celeron cq58 motherbords dont support i3, i5, or i7,so I need to buy an entire motherboard that costs more than the best g1 i7.
