I have a dell computer it says the hard drive is a scsi i want to replce my old hard drive with a ssd drive but they all say sata how do i know if its compatable

Solution
listing you exact Dell model would be helpful to give you an answer.
Fit - no problem, but the question is does it have the SATA ports and if yes, what gen. If it has SCSI, best hope it has gen 2. so there is no point in fancy SSD as the SATA 2 is limited to 300MB/s and SATA 1 is just 150. So you can safely peak the cheapest SSD.

Solution
Nobody has a real scsi drive in a laptop that I know of.
I think that is old code showing up wrong.

Look for a youtube showing how to disassemble your particular laptop.
I might suggest buying a Samsung ssd and using their free ssd migration app to move your C drive to their ssd.
Older laptops will have a standard 2.5" ssd. Newer ones will allow for a m.2 device
You will be very pleased with the new quickness.
I have done this on every laptop we own.
