Laptops performance, battery life, usability is directly affected by the single most important value involved. That being the amount of Heat generated. Physical limitations on the size of the heat exchanger only allow 'X' amount of watts to be dissipated. And almost all laptop cpus already push it to its limits, play a heavy game and you'll see temps in the 90's+.

Oc adds cpu wattage. Higher current draw, higher voltage use, hotter cpu. Which laptop cooling cannot handle.
