How do I know if my motherboard has failed?

Hello

I have recently started to build a PC, Its specs are:
Motherboard: Asus P8H61-MX R2.0
CPU: Intel Pentium G2120 3.1ghz
PSU: XFX Pro 450w
HDD: Seagate 500gb
RAM: Ballistix Crucial ddr3 4gb (2x2gb)

When I plugged everything into the board and tried to boot it wasn't recognized by my monitor using VGA, I then hooked up a DVI cord (to make sure the VGA port wasn't broke) and still no display or any beeps. When it is powered up all the fans are spinning and the green light is on the board. I then cleared the CMOS by taking out the battery for 5-10 mins and used the jumper on the board as well.

I thought that it could just be that there is something loose and took everything out of the case and layed it out on an insulated surface to see if anything was shorting on the board (this time leaving out the RAM to see if that helped), still no display or beeps. I have seen that it could be the PSU but I know that it is working as I am using it on another PC now.

I am wondering is it my motherboard that is bad? or can something else cause this to happen such as the CPU not working?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have taken everything from case and put it out on an insulated surface already just to see if there was anything wrong

My motherboard is an lga 1155 socket, do all lga 1155 heatsinks work on all 1155 motherboards or can that affect it from booting?
